A fake wallet recovery expert stole her 1.25 million Dogecoins

In September 2017, a woman purchased over 1.3 million Dogecoins and recorded the mnemonic phrase from her BitPie wallet, but forgot the address.

In November 2021, when the price of Dogecoin soared, she attempted multiple times to import the mnemonic phrase but encountered errors, indicating a mistake in her recorded phrase. She then contracted someone in Zhuhai to recover the correct mnemonic phrase. However, they reportedly never found it, and she eventually gave up.

Only recently did she entrust me to retrieve her Dogecoins. I successfully recovered the correct mnemonic phrase, but discovered that the Dogecoins had been transferred to an exchange and sold just days after the contract was signed in November 2021. Because she had forgotten the address, she was unaware of this development.

This case highlights the importance of being cautious when recovering passwords or wallets. Trusting the wrong person can lead to irretrievable losses.
